This reminds me of when I was in Jamaica 30 odd years ago enjoying what started out a beautiful meal when I came across this little less-than-an-inch innocuous looking green "pod" on my plate. "Friend" (and I use that term very loosely!! LOL) assured me it was delicious and just to pop it in and eat it!! *^&$%#$%^** NEVER had I felt such PAIN - tears streaming and, I'm sure, steam issuing from both ears!!! That was my introduction to this plant genus!! I have now developed a fondness for growing and sampling these gorgeous fruits (although, not the ones where you need a cast iron interior!!! :-)
David actually gave me some rocotos a couple of years ago. They're a beautiful chilli. I saved them for the seeds and had a bumper crop of seedlings - several of which made their way back to David. I have a favourite photo of David's very first rocoto which I'll pop onto here - when my own computer gets over its "hissy fit" and allows me back on!
