Last Year's Crop

by Rodney Longhurst
(Greenwood, W.A.)

Plant and Large Habanero

Plant and Large Habanero

Habaneros planted in pretty good soil over the 2006/2007 Summer in Wembley. They grew well despite one of our chickens escaping it's coop on occasion and scratching holes around the roots. There were two habaneros, nestled amongst some jalapeno, mulato, regular poblano, serrano, peter pepper and, the King of herbs, basil.

The habaneros survived the Winter and are still going (if my brother has continued to water them!). We shifted to Greenwood late 2007 so unfortunately have only just got around to raising a new batch.
